Financials Setup : Chart of Accounts

Chart of Accounts
This section describes how to set up general-ledger accounts for Voyager transactions and other financial operations. The general ledger (G/L) tracks the transfer of funds between them. G/L procedures can include a simple transfer between two accounts associated with a single property, or a complex transfer between several accounts across multiple properties.
The chart of accounts (COA) contains all G/L accounts. Each account has its own record. By default, Voyager includes a COA named “system.” If you will use one COA, this is it. You can modify it by importing data from an Excel spreadsheet or by editing individual account records. This section includes procedures for creating a COA in Excel, importing that COA into Voyager, and adding and editing individual accounts.
Voyager supports multiple charts of accounts, though we recommend using account trees to get the effect of multiple charts with a single chart. For more information about that, see “Adding or Updating a Chart of Accounts”. This section includes a procedure for adding a new chart of accounts.
